What are polyphenols?

What are polyphenols?

Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds, particularly high in olive trees. The amount of polyphenols present in olive oil depends on a number of factors including time of harvest, the stress level of the tree and the cultivar type. Early harvest results in high polyphenol levels and is something that can be readily managed. Epidemiological studies strongly suggest that long term consumption of diets rich in plant polyphenols offer protection against development of cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis and neurodegenerative diseases. Polyphenols also have great anti-inflammatory properties.
Most supermarket olive oils contain around 100 - 200 mg/kg of polyphenols. Our 2025  oils are both over 550mg/kg! Anything over 300mg/kg is considered medicinal-grade, so our oils offer excellent health benefits.

Knowledgable consumers are aware of this with many now taking a 10-15ml dose of EVOO as part of their everyday morning health ritual.

Keep an eye out for our new oil with 634mg/kg - coming early 2026!
